Arthur Street.

This kitchen was designed to fit into an existing townhouse that has a distinctly 1970’s aesthetic interior and furnishings, complete with brick archways.

KBD Arthur Street Kitchen 1

A sleek modern kitchen was requested, complete with stainless steel benchtop, improved workflow in main kitchen and into panty, and also out to the courtyard, via the existing bi-fold window above sink. In response, the fridge and oven were moved and are now housed in tall white cabinets opposite the sink.

The hob and sink each occupy one arm of the L-shape stainless steel benchtop, which now flows from the entry, through into the pantry.

The stark mix of black and white gloss cabinetry with integrated appliances, handle-less drawers and an ultra-thin stainless bench edge make for clean lines and contemporary look, whilst the diamond-patterned ceramic tiles on the splashback add some textural interest, and are a nod to the townhouse’s 1960 aesthetic. The result is a super-functional and inviting place to be.
