On seeing the beautiful traditional kitchen in our Takapuna showroom, these clients fell in love with its classical, timeless design and asked for it to be replicated and adapted for their home in Tauranga. They particularly liked the subtle profile of the detailing on the cabinetry.
The design solution included increasing the footprint of the existing kitchen, keeping the sink in the same position, wrapping and returning the benchtop and cabinetry along an existing dividing wall, and creating a new seating ‘peninsula’ with a raised, solid oak leaner that invites guests to sit and interact with what’s going on in the kitchen. Tall storage cabinetry and the fridge were integrated into a bulkhead wall opposite.
A statement Quartzite benchtop material with a polished finish was introduced, which was continued as a pantry bench and splashback the new induction cooktop. A subtle white from Resene was chosen to compliment the stunning hues in the benchtop and also to pick up on the pewter drawer pulls and handles. Brushed stainless steel toekicks help transition the cabinetry to the new, lighter tiled flooring. More subtle design accents include a grey-coloured, granite-finished sink, and a smoked glass above the splashback that brings reflected light into the space.
